Let Go of Blogger's Block!

It happens to everyone... You sit down in front of your computer, log into your blog, click "Add New Post," and then... nothing. Instead of spending the next 30 minutes creating a great post, you sit there racking your brain for an idea.

The next time you feel a case of "Blogger's Block" coming on, try one of these ideas:

Create a "Digg" style post - Post the links to several news stories or blog posts relevant to your industry and have your readers vote for their favorite by leaving a comment. An easy way to find these stories is to set up a Google Alert. If you're not sure how to set one up, click here for instructions

Ask your readers a question - Instead of writing the post, choose a topic, ask your readers a question, and encourage them to leave a comment with their answer.

Write about you - People love to talk about themselves, but some people clam up when it comes to blogging. But it's okay to write about yourself once in a while. This helps your readers get to know you and it establishes a relationship and trust. People want to do business with people they like; creating those relationships is very important! Go ahead and let people know what you did last weekend or the travel plans you are looking forward to this summer!

Thanks for the great tips. It is always nice to have a few go-to tricks when blogger block occurs. I'll have to use them with my college planing blog, head4college-ne.

Crissy - Great post. I also use Google News and put in key words like "women and social media" That gets me new articles. Tip lists are also good when you're stuck.
